Rog’s Recipes: Cinnamon Protein Apples + Free Stuff

I often get emails asking how to boost protein intake throughout the day,  so I wanted to share a quick low-tech/high effect recipe that takes less than 2 minutes to put together that address this problem directly. One bite of these apples and you’ll slap yourself for going through life up until this point without them.

Now on to the free stuff!

My review of the Quest Protein Bars (check it out here) was a big hit, and for good reason: they taste like love feels.  I don’t want to keep all the yum yums to myself though, so I’m going to randomly send readers a bar from my own private stash until they’re all gone – my loss is your delicious gain!

There are 3 ways to be eligible (doing each gives you 3 total chances to win):

The recipe looks great, if only there were a way I could figure out how to eat an apple on this crazy diet my trainer has me on =)

    • says

Man, your trainer sounds like a real turd muffin, but I can also tell by your description of him that he most likely is one of the most handsome men on the planet.

    • says

Warning: Highly addictive and if left to your own devices you may spend 100% of your income on apples, cinnamon and protein powder. Don’t say that I didn’t warn you!

  2. Matt says

Great idea, Roger! Now I have something to do with all those apples I picked this month…

        • says

I’ve tried apple pie, vanilla almond crunch and mixed berry. I’m going to be doing a review of the cinnamon roll flavor they’re developing very soon. If it follows in the trend of all the other bars, this might be the last post you read because I’ll die from awesome overload.

  3. Sean says

Hey I already commented on the YouTube vid of this but luckily I got to use this trick tonight and it was BANGIN!

Of course I also added splenda to the mix to satisfy my inner (chubby) child ;D

LOL! I love that video! I can’t believe that isn’t something I’ve tried before, it seems like a great thing to grab on the go.

I tried Quest bars once before and I was really surprised! They were a lot better than I anticipated for a commercial protein bar.

  9. says

I love it. Sometimes I get so sick of eating pretty, much the same thing every day. This is one of the most inventive ways to increase your protein intake that I have seen. Nice work.

    • says

Glad you love it, Niko. I wish I weren’t a creature of habit, but I can eat the same things forever and ever until the end of time (as long as they taste good), so I’m glad to have something delicious to add into the mix.

  10. Jason says

Apple slices I will be doing this Nom Nom Nom Nom and if you get in the way it’s your own fault.

Tried it with Pink Lady apples in Australia, the sweetness of the apple with the m

Awesome idea! I’m going to get apples tomorrow on the way to the gym I work at – I’m going to call a little staff meeting to try these out. Great idea man!

    Hey Rog,

I shared your link on the FB page for my dorky fashion blog (I update the FB page, but haven’t actually blogged since I started grad school… I am a bad blogger, I am shamed)….

I tried those quest bars and I have to say they were DELICIOUS and not full of all that crap you find in the others that you can’t pronounce…

  14. Lisa says

i would never have thought of doing a shake-n-(no)bake with apples… well done! can’t wait to try it.

  15. says

    Man, you rock.

I’m at work right now but I’ll give it a try when I arrive home. Looks very delicious.

I’m considering to try this with black grapes and watermelon also, as I like this combination better (black grapes and cinnamon rocks)

I’ll drop a comment in the evening.

  16. says

I literally watched that with my jaw on the ground and drooling at the same time.

Looks like a pretty good snack to try out for sure though. Oh, and it’s obvious that you’ve done that quite a few times with the way you were shaking the bag. I was waiting for you to drop it but it never happened. =P

  17. says

I hope those delicious sounding apples were from New Zealand.

I would like to see a re-make of that video that
    a) enables the top half of your head to be seen, and
    b) employs your kiwi accent.

OMG!! This sounds so wonderful that I am going to buy some apples tonight! You got the magic, MFP. For sure. I was getting bored with my protein shakes and this should be a nice change or an added boost of protein to my day.
